The Israeli diplomatic chief confirmed today that no direct negotiations are envisaged with Lebanon aimed at ending the war that began on March 2 by a Hezbollah attack on Israel, following the launch of Israeli-American strikes on Iran.

“The answer is no,” said Foreign Minister Gideon Saar, asked by reporters about the possibility of negotiations between Israel and Lebanon.

A Lebanese source said yesterday that negotiations are “on the agenda” and that preparations to form a delegation are “underway”, noting that “an Israeli commitment in favour of the possibility of a ceasefire or a ceasefire” is also needed.
