One man was killed today when a fire broke out in two vehicles near northern Galilee, in northern Israel, shortly after the Israeli army claimed strikes were launched from Lebanon.
The army noted that damage and injuries had been reported, but gave no further details.
Meanwhile several explosions were heard in Jerusalem this morning, according to AFP reporters, after warning sirens sounded of incoming Iranian missiles.
The Israeli military issued several warnings noting that it had detected “missiles fired by Iran towards the territory of the State of Israel.”
Israel’s Magen David Adom ambulance service noted that no casualties have been reported at this time.
The Israeli army said its teams were moving to “impact sites” in the central part of the country, while local media reported images of minor damage along a road in the town of Holon, south of Tel Aviv.
The strikes come a day after Iran launched a twin missile attack on two southern Israeli cities.
Last Saturday night, Iranian missiles struck the towns of Dimona and Arad in the Negev desert, injuring 175 people.
The Soroka Hospital in Beer Sheva said 175 people were hospitalized there, of whom 23 needed additional treatment and 10 are in serious condition.
In Dimona and Arad, the explosions damaged residential buildings and created impressive craters in the ground.
The Israeli military said it was investigating why the country’s anti-aircraft defense systems failed to intercept the missiles.
