The ban on the celebration of the Palm Sunday service at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem has provoked strong reactions internationally, leading Israel to reconsider its stance.
Benjamin Netanyahu said he has asked the relevant authorities to allow Cardinal Pierbatista Pichabala, Catholic Patriarch of Jerusalem, to enter the temple and celebrate mass.
“Today, due to particular concern for his safety, the Jerusalem police prevented the Latin Patriarch Cardinal Pichabala, the Latin Patriarch, from celebrating mass at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. There was absolutely no malicious intent, only concern to ensure his protection,” the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office wrote on Platform X.
