The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) issued an evacuation order Friday night for the southern suburbs of Beirut ahead of a new wave of airstrikes in the area, which is considered a stronghold of the Iranian-backed Hezbollah group.
“The IDF is continuing its operations and hitting the military infrastructure of the terrorist organization Hezbollah in the southern suburbs (of the Lebanese capital) with increasing intensity. The IDF does not intend to harm you and therefore, for your safety, you must evacuate the area immediately,” Colonel Avihai Adrai, the Israeli army’s spokesman for the Arab-speaking public, announced via Telegram.
The Israeli Air Force has launched dozens of raids in the area over the past three weeks, each time warning residents to evacuate for security reasons.
