The Israeli army today urged residents in southern Lebanon to evacuate, warning of strikes against the Tehran-affiliated Islamist group Hezbollah for the first time since talks between Israeli and Lebanese officials.
“Urgent warning for residents of southern Lebanon south of the Zahrani River…airstrikes” against Hezbollah “are underway” and the army is “operating intensively in the area,” army spokesman Avihai Adrai, an Arabic-speaking army spokesman, said via an X post.
He called on civilians to move north of the Zahrani River, which is several dozen kilometers from the Israel-Lebanon border.
