Iranian diplomatic chief Abbas Araghchi praised in the early hours of today the bilateral relationship between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Russian Federation and hailed Moscow’s “support for diplomacy” and “solidarity”.
He further opined via X that “recent events” showed “the depth and strength of the strategic partnership” between the two sides. He made the comments after meetings with Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov yesterday.
Russia has offered to mediate to restore peace in the Middle East after the war launched by the US and Israel against Iran, which it condemned.
Furthermore, Moscow has proposed to store highly enriched uranium as part of a settlement to resolve the dispute over the Islamic Republic’s nuclear power programme.
But the US rejects the idea.
