Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi announced today that the Strait of Hormuz is fully open again following the ceasefire deal agreed for Lebanon, with US President Donald Trump welcoming Tehran’s decision.
With Araghji’s post, oil prices immediately recorded a drop of about 10 percent – on top of a 5 percent drop during the day – while European stock markets are already rising.
The Iranian foreign minister said in a post on X that the Strait is open to all merchant ships for the remainder of the 10-day Israel-Lebanon ceasefire
He said the passage of ships should be along the route announced by Iran’s Ports and Maritime Organization.
