Ali Mousavi, Iran’s representative to the UN’s International Maritime Organization, said today that Tehran is ready to cooperate with the IMO in order to improve security and protect seafarers in the Gulf, Iran’s Mehr Agency reported.
According to Mousavi, the Strait of Hormuz remains open for navigation, except for ships linked to “Iran’s enemies,” adding that passage through the Strait is possible through coordination with Tehran on security arrangements.
“Diplomacy remains Iran’s priority. However, a complete cessation of aggression as well as mutual trust and confidence are more important,” the Iranian said, denouncing the Israeli and US attacks as “the root of the current situation in the Strait of Hormuz.”
