Iranian state television, citing an unnamed official in the country, reported today that Iran has rejected the US proposal to end the war.

“Iran has reacted negatively to the US proposal,” Press TV, the English-language state television channel, reported.

“The war will end when Iran, not Trump, decides so,” he added, citing the Iranian official.

There has been no official statement from Tehran on the issue at this time, while Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has not commented on the US proposal.

Iranian media reported the information to Press TV.

Earlier today, two senior Pakistani officials said Islamabad had conveyed a 15-point plan containing the US proposals to Iran as a mediator.

According to the official quoted by Press TV, Iran has set five conditions on its part for ending the hostilities that erupted after the February 28 US-Israeli strikes against Iranian territory.

Among Tehran’s conditions are an end to “aggression and assassinations” against Iran and its officials, the creation of a strong mechanism to guarantee Tehran that it (Israel and the US) will not restart a war against it, and a system for paying compensation for damages caused for reconstruction.

The conditions also include a cessation of hostilities on all regional fronts and against all “resistance groups” – an implicit reference to Lebanese Hezbollah – and international recognition of Iran’s sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz.
