The Greek Police will apply increased order, security and traffic measures in view of the EuroLeague Final Four, which will take place on 22 and 24 May at the OAKA “TELECOM CENTER ATHENS”.

As announced by the ELAS, as this is a sporting event of international scope and of particular importance for Athens and the country, a special operational plan has been drawn up to ensure the safe conduct of the games, the protection of fans, delegations and employees, and citizens, as well as their organized movement to and from the sports facilities.

The plan provides for an increased police presence, the development of pre-check zones and security checks around the perimeter of the stadium, strict and targeted checks, as well as special traffic and operational arrangements in the wider area of the OAKA and on the main roads.

At the same time, according to the ELAS, the controls will be intensive and continuous, in order to ensure that no dangerous or other prohibited objects will enter the venue, in accordance with the current institutional framework for the security of sports events.

In addition, the statement underlines that there will be absolutely no tolerance for violence, incidents, possession or use of dangerous objects, damage or any other illegal behaviour that may disturb public order and endanger the safety of the event. Police forces will act immediately, in a coordinated manner and with operational readiness in any relevant incident.

In addition, fans are requested to arrive at the venue on time and follow the instructions of the police and the relevant authorities and to demonstrate responsibility and cooperation throughout the event.

Finally, it is stressed that in the coming days detailed announcements will be issued with more specific instructions and information on the planned approach and departure routes for fans, the checkpoints, traffic regulations, as well as any other information necessary for the safe conduct of the event.
