Pope Leo stressed he would continue to speak out against war despite being attacked by Donald Trump overnight.
“I am not afraid of the Trump administration, I refer to the Gospel and I will continue to speak, in a loud voice, against war,” Pope Leo said specifically, in response to a reporter’s question.

“I don’t mean to start a confrontation with him,” the pontiff added, from the aircraft which took off from Rome this morning and is due to land in Algeria and then in three other countries as part of Pope Prevost’s first visit to the African continent.
The Pope’s remarks, analysts say, come in response to a post by the US President in which he called the Pope “weak” and “crap when it comes to foreign policy” and expressed the view that he should be grateful for his election by the cardinal conclave.
