Under conditions of secrecy, they appeared in court yesterday, Sunday, June 14, 2026, the three defendants in the case of the death of the 49-year-old President of the Apeosokari municipal community in the Municipality of Gortyna, last March. Following their statements at the Heraklion Police Headquarters, two of the three defendants—specifically the 32-year-old and the 59-year-old accused of joint premeditated murder—were remanded in custody, while the 59-year-old —the father of the 32-year-old—who has been charged with incitement, there was disagreement, and the judicial council will decide on his criminal treatment. The hearing lasted several hours, with the defendants denying the charges and their involvement in the case, while their defense attorneys argued that there is no evidence against them and that the charges will be dismissed.

It is recalled that 49-year-old Alexandros Dakalakis passed away on March 23, 2026, following a prolonged hospital stay after sustaining a head injury on March 1. Due to the severity of his condition, the 49-year-old was unable to speak. The President of the Apeosokari community had been injured in a rural area, with the coroner’s subsequent report citing “possible homicide,” paving the way for an investigation. It should be noted that the family of the 49-year-old expressed satisfaction in recent days with the progress of the case, emphasizing that their wish is “for the whole truth to come to light” and for the guilty parties to be punished.
