A disturbance was caused in the early morning hours in the centre of Heraklion, due to a fire that broke out in a shop selling church supplies on Agios Minas Street. The flames were noticed shortly after three in the morning, while fire brigade forces with three vehicles and seven employees rushed to the scene. The immediate and effective intervention of the firefighters resulted in the extinguishing of the fire before it created a risk of spreading to adjacent buildings in the city centre. The Fire Service is conducting a preliminary investigation into the incident and in order to determine the cause of the fire.
