Jiorgos Theofanous appeared particularly moved, speaking about Marinella on the show “Happy Day”, in statements aired on Monday morning (30/3).

The Cypriot music composer, who had a close and long-lasting relationship with the great performer, did not hide his grief over her loss, calling her “mother” and explaining that she was a source of support and guidance for him.

He revealed that he was in Istanbul when he was informed of her death, describing the moment as highly charged. “If she was here, she would have said to me ‘lift your head and let’s go,'” he said with obvious emotion, recalling moments they had shared on stage, even when she was facing difficulties.

He noted that, despite their close collaboration, they didn’t happen to create a big hit together, expressing hope that this would happen in the future – something they ultimately didn’t get to do.

It will be recalled that Marinella had participated in Theophanous’ 2008 musical performance “I Sing My Island” at the Herodesion, giving voice to a particularly moving role.
