A serious accident occurred at the Cape Canaveral Space Center, as there was an explosion of a Blue Origin New Glenn rocket during testing in Florida, shaking Jeff Bezos’ space plans.
As reported by US media, the rocket explosion occurred at the launch pad during an engine burn test. The powerful explosion at Cape Canaveral caused a huge fireball to light up the sky over Cape Canaveral, causing concern about the impact on the company’s launch programme.
In an update to X, the company said there was an “unplanned incident” during the test, adding that “all personnel have been accounted for and are safe.”
In fact, video shows the rocket bursting into flames while still on the launch pad, creating a huge cloud of fire and smoke.
Here’s our video of the explosion at Launch Complex 36. It happened about 9 pm ET (0100 UTC) as Blue Origin was beginning a static fire test of its New Glenn rocket.
