The exodus of holidaymakers for the three-day Holy Spirit weekend is proceeding at an increased pace, causing serious delays on the main roads of Attica, especially on the Kifissos.

In the current towards Lamia, traffic is being carried out with great difficulties, as the traffic jam extends for about 12 kilometres. The delays start from the area of Moschatos and go as far as Metamorfosi.

Traffic is also increased on Attiki Odos, on the stream to Elefsina, where vehicles are moving at low speeds from Spata to the connection with the Athens-Lamia road. Problems are also recorded on the Athens – Corinth road, mainly on the section between Dafni and Skaramanga.

A similar picture prevails at the port of Piraeus, where thousands of travellers are departing for island destinations in view of the weekend.

As reported by Port Authority officials and employees of ferry companies, passenger traffic is particularly high, with most ships leaving almost full.

Traffic is expected to intensify further in the coming hours, as working hours are gradually coming to an end for many excursionists. A total of a dozen sailings are scheduled to the Cyclades, Dodecanese and other popular island destinations.
