The Revolutionary Guards said they launched an attack on a US air base, which they consider the launching point for US strikes on Iranian targets in the early hours of Thursday morning.

According to Iranian state media, the IRGC did not specify exactly which base was targeted, while the United States maintains military installations in several Middle Eastern countries.

Fars News Agency, citing a statement from the Revolutionary Guards, reported:

“The US airbase identified as the source of the attack was targeted at 04:50am”

The IRGC called the operation a “serious warning” to the US, claiming that “aggression will not go unanswered.”

Explosions in Bandar Abbas and alert in Kuwait

The Fars Agency also reported that there were three powerful explosions near Bandar Abbas, a strategic port near the Straits of Hormuz.

At the same time, Kuwait said it had activated its air defense systems to counter “hostile missile and unmanned attacks.”

The country’s authorities said the explosions heard came from intercepted missiles and drones, with no reports of casualties so far.

At the same time, state-run IRIB television reported that Iranian forces opened warning fire on four ships attempting to cross the Strait of Hormuz without coordinating with Iranian authorities.

Denials of possible US-Iran deal

The new escalation came hours after reports of an informal framework for an agreement between the two sides

According to Iranian reports:

  • Iran would gradually restore commercial navigation in the Straits of Hormuz,
  • while the US would withdraw some of its military forces and move to relax the naval blockade.
  • .

However, the White House categorically denied these scenarios, calling them “complete fabrications,” while noting, however, that talks are ongoing.

New Trump statements

Donald Trump said during a cabinet meeting that:

“Either a deal will be made or we may have to finish the job.”

The US president also claimed that Tehran “very much wants a deal” but the US is still not satisfied with Iran’s proposals.

For its part, Iran insists it will not back down from its “red lines”, which include:

  • the right to enrich uranium,
  • the maintenance of enriched material stocks,
  • the control of the Straits of Hormuz,
  • and the lifting of sanctions.
  • .

New US sanctions and tension in Lebanon

The US Treasury Department simultaneously announced new sanctions against the Iranian Persian Gulf Straits Authority, created to collect transit fees in the Strait of Hormuz.

Washington accuses Tehran of attempting to use the strategic passage as a means of economic blackmail of international shipping.

At the same time, Israel is stepping up its operations against Hezbollah in Lebanon.

Lebanon’s health ministry said at least 31 people were killed and another 40 wounded by Israeli airstrikes in one of the bloodiest days since the ceasefire began.
