Efi Achtsioglou, a member of the New Left, announced her resignation from her parliamentary office in a letter sent to the President of the Parliament, Nikitas Kaklamanis.
“I am deeply convinced that the logic of self-sufficiency and ideological purity does not serve the real needs of the people who are toiling today. Political change is a genuine popular demand. And I do not allow myself to underestimate it,” Achtsioglou said in her statement.
As she stresses, “it is an act of conscience” to resign while at the same time clarifying that “I am not giving up active politics, I remain present with all my strengths alongside every citizen in the collective struggle for social justice”.
