A cannabis plantation consisting of 1,330 cannabis plants was found in Chania and -4- persons were arrested accused of cultivating cannabis seedlings and violations of the Law on Drugs and Weapons.

The police seized -2- precision scales, a quantity of cannabis, a sum of money, two-wheeled motorcycles and a private car.

The arrest was made yesterday Thursday 28.05 during a coordinated police operation, the arrests concern four people, namely three residents (two 29-year-old and 25-year-old) and a 31-year-old foreigner, accused, among other things, of setting up and joining a criminal group.

As part of the special planning drawn up by the Chania Police Directorate to combat the phenomenon of cultivation of cannabis seedlings and in the context of investigation character “bottom up investigation” involving previous cases after months of methodical and combined police investigation and preliminary investigation and appropriate data evaluation, organized and carried out this police operation, which involved police officers of the Department of Drug Enforcement and Crime Prevention and Suppression Teams of the

The police officers located in a forest area of the Municipality of Apokoronas, an improvised greenhouse installation where they found vegetable containers, within which were growing -1,330 young cannabis plants, which were uprooted, as well as various tools for vegetables and an irrigation system.

Thereafter, house searches were carried out at the homes of the arrested in areas of the municipalities of Apokoronas and Chania, during which they were found in total and seized: “-2- precision scales, -79- grams of raw cannabis, the sum of money of three thousand five hundred and five (3,505) euros, cartridges of various calibers, -2- firecrackers, one (1) FULL FACE black, a pocket knife and eight mobile phone devices”. In addition, two two-wheel motorcycles and a private car were seized as means of transporting drugs.

The preliminary investigation is carried out by the Department of Narcotics of the Sub-Directorate for the Prosecution and Investigation of Crimes of Chania.
