Slavija’s derby against Sparta was halted in the 7th minute of stoppage time when home fans stormed the pitch, with both teams immediately running to the dressing rooms.

At the time of the break Slavia were leading 3-2 and seconds away from winning the title.

The situation was further exacerbated when fans clashed with goalkeeper Jakub Surovchik, who left the pitch visibly in pain. For safety reasons, Sparta decided not to continue the match, boarded their bus and left Eden.

.

In addition to Surovchik, according to Czech media reports, Matthias Voita and a member of Sparta’s medical staff were also attacked. For someone to come towards me during the match, threaten me to my face and attack me is absolutely unacceptable. I will pursue it legally,” Surovchik wrote on his Instagram.

Slavia Prague president Jaroslav Tvrdik said the following in an official statement:

“We cannot look for any extenuating circumstances for us, our fans invaded the pitch, objectively interrupted the match before the end. The opponent reported an attack on one or two players. I think it is legitimate that the game was stopped.

.

When I spoke to our players, if something similar happened to us there, we would behave exactly the same. We can only apologize.

We need to react to this in the future so that we don’t repeat situations like this. It is difficult. Three, four minutes separated us from the championship celebrations, I think the players would have done it. Instead, it’s probably the biggest embarrassment I’ve experienced in eleven years at the club.

.

I apologise to all the normal fans who stayed in the stands, I apologise to all the spectators in front of the screens. It’s a disgrace, we have to live with it.”
