A Bahraini court has sentenced nine defendants to life imprisonment and three others to three years in prison for collaborating with the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) to commit what it called “hostile and terrorist acts” against Bahrain, the state news agency reported today.

The defendants were involved in gathering information on sensitive locations and facilitating financial transactions, the statement said.

Bahrain’s interior ministry had made it known on May 9 that it had arrested 41 people it believed were linked to the Revolutionary Guards. The ministry had said security authorities had uncovered a group linked to the Guards, while prosecution investigations were also looking into cases linked to Iranian attacks.
