Anthi Voulgari was interviewed on the vidcast “What kind of music do you listen to?” with Theologos Helios and among other things she mentioned a serious car accident she had in the past in Rhodes. She was in a car with a friend that day. The vehicle was on a cliff, with the scenes described by the presenter being shocking. She miraculously escaped. She felt, she said, the presence of the Virgin Mary beside her.

The car accident in Rhodes brought Anthi Voulgari closer to the church and faith. She found the strength that day to extricate herself, to climb out onto the road and alert the authorities. He never forgot what he experienced. She never stopped thinking that her life came to hang in the balance.

“I feel that the Virgin Mary helped me a lot, in very difficult situations. I felt her presence next to me. And it may seem too much to some people but… I’ll tell you something… When I was in Rhodes, I had a car accident. I was with a friend of mine, in a car, the car went off, we went off the cliff.

We felt like… we were flying, son. And I immediately thought, I’m like, “If something happens to me, what’s my mum going to do?” That was my first thought. And I’m like, “Oh my god.” As soon as I say ‘Holy Mother of God’, the car stopped, the car went red.”

She then described her movements immediately after the accident, trying to keep her composure and ask for help. “I’m like ‘OK, we’re alive, Jesus we’re alive’. I remember it was at night, my friend was trapped in the driver’s seat, I was climbing out into the street to ask for help. I don’t know where I found such composure and strength.

Anyway, the police came, the ambulances came, as soon as I got in the ambulance and calmed down, I couldn’t feel my body.”

She revealed that for a while she feared she had been seriously injured. “I thought I was paralysed. Anyway it passed, but it was the first time I felt the Virgin Mary so close to me. Then there was the familiar one with my health issue, the familiar story, and now with the child.”
