One of the American passengers on the cruise ship MV Hondius who are being hastily repatriated to the US has been found to be positive for hantavirus after undergoing a molecular test (PCR, polymerase chain reaction), the Health Ministry said today.
Of the 17 nationals being repatriated by air on State Department responsibility, “one passenger is currently experiencing mild symptoms and another was found to be slightly positive for Andean virus following a PCR test,” the department said via X.
