Israel’s Defense Minister Israel Kats said today that he has ordered the army to speed up the demolition of Lebanese homes “in villages on the line of contact” and to destroy bridges on the Litani River.
The Israeli army has been ordered by Katz and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu “to immediately destroy all bridges on the Litani River that are used for terrorist activities in order to prevent the passage of Hezbollah terrorists and weapons southward,” the Defense Minister’s office said in a statement.
At the same time, Kats instructed the armed forces “to accelerate the demolition of Lebanese houses in villages on the line of contact in order to remove threats to Israeli communities, based on the Beit Hanoun and Rafah model,” referring to two Gaza Strip towns razed to the ground during Israel’s operations against Hamas.
