Britain will not use its bases in Cyprus for offensive military action, a Cypriot government spokesman said, citing a telephone conversation today between Cyprus President Nicos Christodoulides and UK Prime Minister Kir Starmers.
“The British Prime Minister reiterated…that the security of the Republic of Cyprus is fundamental to the UK and, for this reason, a decision has been taken to strengthen the means of contributing to the preventive measures already taken,” a written statement from the government spokesman said.
“In conclusion, the Prime Minister reiterated that British bases in Cyprus will not be used for any offensive military operation,” according to the statement.
