Evaggelia Mumouri spoke about her participation in Sotiris Tsafoulias’ series “To Rififi” and the role of the mother who went viral with her shocking performance. The actress was a guest on the show “Smile and Again” today (21/3).
“When Sotiris Tsafoulias called me one summer and said ‘we’re going to do this’ and told me the story originally, I remember being in Gia and going online to look up this story. This story, the great injustice done to this family. I looked, I saw pictures. So when I got the script, I knew which way to go. I didn’t choose it. He chose me. That is, just as Sotiris chose me to do this role, the process chose me,” Evangelia Mumouri said initially.
“In Greece, I have never worked like this in 30 years. I have worked more with my mind, I have worked with my colleagues. This was a way, a path to bring a result that was as close as possible to what we imagine and what is done abroad. That a man gets the script very early, a man gets data, he thinks, he reads the script, he studies,” he added.
“So for me, I chose this path. To leave my house, to sit with my house shut up by myself. And the truth is that at the beginning I told Alexander my partner, I said to him “I’m going to leave, I’m going to stay 20 days in Kallithea”. I live in Chalandri. Then I said I’m going to stay in Nice for the same reasons. Finally I found out, talking to psychologists and all that, he told me that “you wanted to live this process like this”. So I didn’t do it so consciously. I chose this path,” confessed Evangelia Moumouri to Sissy Christidou.
“I’m waiting to go with Sotiris to Mytilene. Some time ago Sotiris sent me the message sent by the family. That thank you very much for bringing up this story. And for not letting our Panagiotis’ story be forgotten. Because that family is still there. They are still grieving. The money is still in the bank. It’s there, it’s there. And they’re still in court, they’re now in the European Court of Justice. They still can’t find their justice.
And it’s not the money, what money they get. It’s that the child, if he had gone, would have been saved. And we know this because a little girl with the same disease went next and the little girl lived. It’s not what the parents want, it’s that science could have helped Panagiotis to live,” Evangelia Mumouri notes of the sensitive story the series deals with.
