New evidence from the investigation into the murder of a 54-year-old woman and her 26-year-old son in Loggos, Aegialia, has shed new light on the case. Meanwhile, the woman’s 65-year-old Italian partner, who has been remanded in custody as the main suspect, continues to deny any involvement in the events.
Police authorities are now carefully examining the results of forensic analyses, which appear to suggest that the scene may have been altered after the murders.
During specialized investigations at the home where the two victims were found, traces of blood were detected in areas not directly related to the crime scene. These traces are believed to have been left by someone moving around the house after the attack, and DNA tests are already underway to determine their origin.
Investigators consider this specific finding particularly significant, as it may reveal movements that took place after the murders or even an attempt to destroy evidence.
Meanwhile, the focus is on a kitchen knife approximately 20 centimeters long that was found beneath the body of the 54-year-old woman. According to reports, no fingerprints were detected on the object, a fact that raises questions about who handled it and under what circumstances it ended up at that specific location.
New evidence has also emerged from the analysis of a flobber-type weapon, with which the 26-year-old was allegedly murdered, as well as a laptop. Traces of the 54-year-old’s blood are said to have been found on both items, a fact leading investigators to consider the possibility that the woman had already been injured when she came into contact with them.
These findings are considered critical, as they may be linked to the scenario of a staged crime scene, intended to create the impression that mother and son took each other’s lives.
For his part, the 65-year-old defendant claims he was unaware of what happened, as he was asleep at the time of the attack. However, according to reports, his statements contain inconsistencies regarding the timeline of events and his movements before and after the victims were found.
Authorities do not appear to be accepting the mutual killing scenario, assessing that the picture emerging from the evidence so far does not support such a claim. The progress of the forensic tests, and especially the results of the DNA analyses, are expected to play a decisive role in solving the case.
So far, the 65-year-old remains in custody, while the investigation continues with the aim of fully reconstructing the events that led to the tragic double homicide.
