A fire broke out today shortly before 1 a.m. in a commercial area in central Athens, at the intersection of Sophocleous and Menandrou Streets.
According to the Fire Department, the fire, which started around 12:40 a.m., has been contained within the store and has not spread to adjacent buildings.
Seventeen firefighters with five vehicles, as well as a specialized aerial ladder truck, are on the scene.
