In a particularly warm atmosphere and in the presence of dozens of Rhodes residents, representatives of organizations, businesspeople, professionals, and members of the working class, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, who sent a clear message of continuity in the government’s work, economic stability, and a strong national presence during a period of intense geopolitical developments.

At the start of the event, the Prime Minister introduced the new secretary of the New Democracy Political Committee, Mr. Kyranakis, asking those present to welcome him with a warm round of applause and emphasizing that the party base has always been the “backbone” of the party and the main pillar of its electoral successes.

He made special mention of Rhodes and the Dodecanese, thanking the citizens for their enduring trust and noting that the island continues to be a leading player in Greek tourism. He praised the efforts of workers and businesses in the sector, emphasizing that despite international geopolitical turmoil, Rhodes continues to post positive results, confirming its leading role in Greek tourism.

A significant portion of the speech was devoted to the economy and efforts to improve citizens’ disposable income. The Prime Minister emphasized that the government remains committed to raising wages, supporting workers and retirees, and creating conditions for sustainable growth. He acknowledged the pressures that rising costs continue to place on households, but noted that fiscal stability and responsible economic management allow the government to take meaningful action for the benefit of society.

“We will not jeopardize what we have achieved in recent years for short-term pre-election gains,” was the message she sent, emphasizing that the government does not choose the path of easy promises and populism, but rather that of responsibility and credibility. As he pointed out, his policy is based on what he can actually deliver, not on empty announcements, emphasizing that a relationship of trust with citizens is built through concrete actions, not through promises that cannot be fulfilled.

He placed particular emphasis on issues of national security and defense, which he described as a non-negotiable priority for the government. From Rhodes, an island of particular geostrategic importance for the country, he emphasized that the residents of the Dodecanese must feel safe, as Greece currently possesses strong and reliable Armed Forces, capable of effectively protecting the country’s national sovereignty and sovereign rights.

He referred to the strengthening of the country’s defense capabilities, the significant investments made in recent years in the Armed Forces, as well as the government’s determination to keep Greece strong in an unstable international environment. At the same time, he noted that the country played a leading role in changing European policy on border security, pointing out that the effective protection of Greece’s borders is now also a European priority.

The Prime Minister also focused particularly on the management of migration, noting that the situation on the islands of the Eastern Aegean has changed significantly compared to previous years, thanks to the strengthening of border controls and the systematic policy of deterring illegal migration flows.

At the same time, he presented the government’s broader vision for Greece in 2030, with a focus on technological progress, the utilization of artificial intelligence, the adaptation of the labor market to new realities, and the creation of opportunities for the younger generation. As he noted, the country must prepare in a timely manner for the major changes ahead and invest in the skills and professions of the future.

Concluding his speech, he called for unity and solidarity among the party’s leaders and supporters, in view of the run-up to the 2027 elections. He emphasized that New Democracy is the only political force that can guarantee stability, security, and prospects for growth for the country, calling on citizens to evaluate the government’s work based on results rather than promises.
