The contribution of the Security Office of the Central Port Authority of Piraeus was decisive in the dismantling of a migrant trafficking ring based in Attica.

A Turkish national, against whom a national arrest warrant was pending from the Samos Prosecutor’s Office, as well as five other foreigners were arrested in the framework of an operation in Neos Kosmos, for offences including trafficking in migrants, illegal entry into the country, forgery and violations of drug legislation.

In particular, the security officers of the central port authority of Piraeus together with members of the Directorate of Security and Maritime Borders Protection (DAPTHAS) had located the residence of the above-mentioned man in recent days and, by setting and placing it under discreet surveillance, they went together with the above-mentioned service to Neos Kosmos, Attica, where they located and arrested the Turkish national outside his house together with another compatriot aged 38 and 27 respectively.

When a police check was carried out, it emerged that an arrest warrant was pending against the 38-year-old from the Investigating Magistrate of Samos, while the 27-year-old lacked legal travel documents for his stay in the country.

In addition, in his possession was found and seized a fake driving license of Bulgarian authorities, which he declared that he had purchased for the sum of five hundred euros, as well as the mobile phone devices of the above.

Following a legal search at the home of the 38-year-old in Neos Kosmos, Attica, in the presence of a judicial officer, four foreigners (1 Syrian and 3 Turkish citizens), aged 39, 25, 24 and 29 years old, who lacked legal travel documents, were found.
