At least five people were killed and more than 40 wounded today in Russian strikes in the Kharkiv and Zaporizhzhya regions of northeastern and southern Ukraine, local authorities said today.
After more than four years since the Russian invasion of Ukraine began, shelling continues almost daily on both sides of the front line and diplomatic negotiations have reached a stalemate.
In Chuhuiv, a Russian strike claimed the lives of a 22-year-old woman and two men, aged 56 and 70, according to a newest account posted on Telegram by regional governor Oleh Sinekhubov. He had earlier put the death toll at four. According to the same source, in the city of Kharkiv itself, Ukraine’s second-largest near the border with Russia, the strikes wounded at least 15 people.
In Zaporizhzhya, in southern Ukraine, two people were killed and 32 others wounded in a Russian strike, the Ukrainian emergency aid agency said via Telegram.
According to the Ukrainian Air Force, Russia launched a total of 166 long-range unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) and two missiles overnight, of which 146 drones were intercepted.
