On the air of SKAI’s “Weekend Live” show, Dimitris Panopoulos, Marji Lazarou and Alexis Michas discussed the future of entertainment on television, against the backdrop of the changes expected from the new TV season.

The discussion focused on the reduction of budgets and the gradual shift of entertainment shows towards more hybrid formats, combining information and infotainment, which – as pointed out – affects the character of television content.

Dimitris Panopoulos commented that the infotainment model has reached its limits, as the excessive mixing of topics and news has, in his view, exhausted its potential. As he noted, both pure information and pure entertainment have their own functionality, unlike hybrid formats that have not delivered the expected results in recent years.

At the same time, he stressed that the constant preoccupation with specific cases and themes has affected the way in which entertainment shows are shaped, leading to content that – he said – has not evolved creatively as much as expected.

For her part, Marji Lazarou expressed her concern about the general state of the industry, noting that the current television condition is causing frustration for those working in entertainment. However, she stressed that any period of difficulty is temporary and estimated that the space will adapt to the new conditions.

The discussion highlighted the prevailing concerns in the television market about the format that entertainment shows will take next season, and whether the current model can continue to meet the needs of the audience.
