On Monday, the 49-year-old man accused of repeatedly raping his daughter-in-law, as well as domestic assault and threats, is expected to appear before the Rhodes investigating authorities.
According to local media reports, the 33-year-old is said to have alleged that the abusive behaviour began years ago, as early as 2013, when her marriage began.
As she claimed in her statement, for a long time she did not make a complaint out of fear, as – she says – she was receiving threats that she would lose custody of her children. At the same time, she handed over to the authorities a hard drive with audiovisual material, on which one of the alleged incidents was allegedly recorded.
As reported by the “Demokratiki” of Rhodes, her husband was informed by a friend about material released on social media, in which the 49-year-old man is allegedly depicted having contact with the 33-year-old.
For his part, the accused denies the charges, attributing them to family differences, while claiming he had supported the couple financially by providing them with housing and assistance.
