Donald Trump for the first time categorically ruled out sending ground troops to Iran.

During his remarks in the Oval Office, welcoming
Japanese Prime Minister Shanae Takayichi, the US president said the US would not send ground forces to Iran.

“I’m not sending troops anywhere. But even if I did, I wouldn’t tell you. But I’m not,” Trump said.

Trump: Netanyahu will not pursue attacks on energy targets
Trump also said that in a conversation with Netanyahu, he asked him to stop targeting energy infrastructure in Iran.

“I told him, don’t do that. And he won’t,” he said.

The US president also stood by Tokyo’s readiness to “take action” on security in the Strait of Hormuz.

Earlier, Japan, along with Germany, France, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands and Italy, jointly said they would take action to help normalize the Strait of Hormuz region.
