US President Donald Trump said today that Iran has agreed not to acquire a nuclear weapon, adding that the country’s supreme leader Ayatollah Moshtaba Khamenei is involved in talks with the US to end the war.
In an interview today on the New York Post’s Pod Force One podcast, Trump, when asked about Iran, replied “they have already agreed that they will not get a nuclear weapon.”
In addition, the US president said that talks with Iran are “progressing quickly” and “we will not have a nuclear weapon and many other good things will happen.”
In the interview, he admitted calling Netanyahu a “f—ing lunatic” during their phone call on Monday, though he added that they “work very well together.”
“I was a little annoyed with his constant clashes with Lebanon, you know,” he told reporter Miranda Devine, though he was quick to add: “we have worked very well together. I like Bibi a lot and I work very well with him.”
He also appreciated that “if it wasn’t for me, there would be no Israel right now.”
The US news website Axios was the first to report that Trump used particularly harsh language in his conversation with Netanyahu.
According to a report by Axios, the US president told the Israeli prime minister: “You’re f—ing crazy. If it wasn’t for me, you’d be in jail. I’m saving your ass. Everybody hates you now. Everybody hates Israel because of this.”
In terms of gasoline prices in the US, the Republican estimated that they will fall when the war in Iran ends and commented that right now inflation “is not much”.
“We don’t have much inflation. Look, if you take away the price of petrol, energy, we have very little inflation,” he explained.
