The HQ of the Hellenic Police gave a response to a TV report and publications regarding the case of the murder of a 39-year-old woman in Kalamata, clarifying that the data kept by the competent services do not show that there had been a previous complaint about an incident of domestic violence against the victim.
A detailed statement of the Hellenic Police Service
“Following today’s television report, as well as reports that have been reproduced regarding the case of the homicide of a 39-year-old woman in Kalamata, the HQ of the Hellenic Police clarify the following:
The case is being investigated from the very first moment with due seriousness and every element concerning its background is being examined in the framework of the foreseen procedure.
Specifically, during the November 2025 incident referenced in the report, there were no allegations of domestic violence or reports of the beating or abuse of the woman. The information that had come to police was solely related to third party concerns, as she had not shown up at a scheduled activity and was not returning their phone calls.
Officers responded and immediately went to the residence, where they located the woman in good health. During their communication with her, she did not report any incidents of violence, threats or need for protection, nor did any evidence emerge that would constitute an incident of domestic violence or warrant further police action. At the same time, the prescribed departmental procedures were followed.
In addition, according to the records kept, the police authorities had never been made aware of any complaint of an incident of domestic violence between the persons involved.
It goes without saying that any evidence or information that contributes to the investigation of the facts of the case is being evaluated by the competent police services, while the collection of statements and other evidence continues to be carried out in order to ensure the fullest possible investigation of all aspects of the case.
The Hellenic Police treats every report related to domestic violence as an extremely serious case and acts in accordance with the operational protocols and the current institutional framework, in order to ensure the safety of citizens and the protection of human life.”
