Shock has been caused in Italy by the news of the burning of four migrants from Pakistan and Afghanistan at a petrol station in Calabria.

As security camera footage released today shows, the four migrants, who were working on farmland in the area, were burned alive in a minivan. Two men, allegedly Pakistani, poured petrol into the vehicle and kept the doors closed. After a while, the van exploded.

According to the security video, the two assailants were arrested by the carabinieri. This brutal killing was allegedly due to the refusal of the four victims to pay money for their van transport.

A friend of the victims told the press that they were foreigners working in the fields under extreme exploitative conditions. They are often not even paid the minimum agreed daily wage.
