By assuming the role of coordinator for the two above mentioned projects, I am committed to contribute to the timely and effective implementation of interventions that will upgrade health services for all residents of West Attica”

Today, Tuesday, June 2, at the Ministry of Health, a meeting of the Minister of Health Mr. Adonis Georgiades, the Deputy Minister of Health Mrs. Irini Agapidaki, Stamatis Poulis, Advisor to the Minister of Health and First Deputy MP of the West Attica New Democracy Party and the Mayor of Fili Mr. Christos Pappou. The main topics of discussion were the staffing with medical staff and the building upgrade of the Local Clinic of Ano Liosia, aiming at its transformation into a Multipurpose Regional Health Centre, as well as the upcoming construction of the new, modern Health Centre in the district of Drossoupolis Ano Liosia. Stamatis Poulis has been appointed as coordinator for the coordination and monitoring of the implementation of the above projects.

Stamatis Poulis said after the meeting :

“The Ministry of Health has set the goal of transforming the Ano Liosia Local Clinic into a modern Multipurpose Regional Health Centre, which is confirmed institutionally through the recent Joint Ministerial Decision signed on 7 May 2026.

This is a particularly important development for West Attica and especially for the residents of the Municipality of Fylis, as primary health care is essentially strengthened and the conditions are created for better, more direct and higher quality service to citizens.

In this context, three new organic permanent staff positions are created: one post of General Medicine or Pathology doctor and two posts of Nursing Assistants, significantly enhancing the operation of the structure and the daily coverage of patients’ needs. In addition, we are proceeding with the procedures for the recruitment of a cardiologist, ophthalmologist, paediatrician, dermatologist and other specialists.

While the forthcoming construction, with the approval of the Ministry of Health, of a new, modern Health Centre in the district of Drossoupolis Ano Liosia, is a project that will contribute decisively to the decongestion of existing structures, to the improvement of citizens’ access to health services and to the overall upgrading of public health in the area.

In parallel, and until the construction of the new Health Center is completed, we are working on the concession of use of the existing Local Clinic from EFKA to the 2th YPE so that subsequently, in cooperation with the Municipality of Fylis, the building upgrade can proceed.

Taking on the role of for the above two projects,I am committed to contributing to the timely and effective implementation of interventions that will improve health services for all residents of West Attica.

For us, strengthening public health structures is not a general announcement, but a daily effort with a substantial result. We do not stop at words. We continue to work with plan and consistency to improve the daily life of the citizens of West Attica, for better health services, modern infrastructure and a public health system that will truly meet the needs of society.”
