Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky claimed today that the Ukrainian army is now capable of striking Russian custodial services across the occupied territories and has caused fuel shortages in Crimea and other Russian-controlled areas.
“Our forces are now capable of reaching Russia’s military commissariats virtually throughout the temporarily occupied territories,” he said in his videotaped, evening address.
“In practice, there are no safe roads left for the occupier in the south and east of our country,” he added.
In recent months, Ukraine has intensified strikes on targets several hundred kilometers from its border, most notably Russia’s oil industry. According to Zelensky, between January and May, Ukrainian forces hit 15 Russian oil refineries.
These attacks are “further proof that there will be no peaceful period for the conqueror on our land,” he continued.
“This is also reflected in the shortages, especially fuel shortages in Crimea and other areas that remain under occupation,”
Drivers in Crimea, the peninsula annexed by Russia in 2014, have been rationing gasoline since today as Ukrainian drone attacks make road refueling difficult.
