Donald Trump said he has not received official word that Iran is suspending talks with the United States, but stressed that he believes the two sides have already discussed enough and that a period of silence might prove more useful.

In an interview with NBC News, the US president said that “we are talking too much” and estimated that the temporary pause in contacts could even last for a long time.

He clarified that such a stance does not imply a military escalation, stressing that the US is not planning new attacks, but intends to maintain pressure through the blockade and existing measures.

“I can wait as long as they want. They are losing a fortune,” he said, suggesting that he believes time is working against Tehran.

Earlier, Tasnim News Agency reported that Iran has decided to suspend indirect negotiations with the US, citing the escalation of Israeli military operations in Lebanon, which is hampering diplomatic efforts to de-escalate the crisis.

Trump, however, appeared skeptical of the reports, noting that he has not been officially informed of a breakdown in talks, while adding that the Iranians “are better negotiators than fighters.

The developments add to the uncertainty surrounding US-Iranian relations, as tensions in the Middle East remain high and international markets closely watch any new moves by the parties involved.
