A man was arrested in Patras for posting photos and videos of guns on social media.
In fact, 2 more residents were arrested as part of the investigation for weapons law violations.
Weapons, a bulletproof vest, a metal detector, 36 knives and cutlasses, 331 cartridges and cartridge cases, iron rods, tasers and pyrotechnics were seized.

In more detail, 3 residents were arrested by police officers of the Directorate for the Fight against Organized Crime in Patras, in the morning hours of May 29, 2026, accused (as the case may be) of violations of the legislation on weapons, illegal use of metal detector, violation of the legislation on flares and fireworks, as well as disobedience.
The case was investigated following information received by the Sub-Division for Combating Trafficking in Persons and Goods, according to which an individual was posting photos and videos on a publicly accessible social media account showing various types of weapons.
After evaluating the evidence and following a prosecutor’s order, a special team of police officers from the Department of Prosecution of Illegal Trafficking and Trafficking in Goods was formed, which, in cooperation with police officers from the Patras Sub-Directorate for the Prosecution and Detection of Crimes and the Department of Prosecution and Detection of Crimes of Western Achaia, proceeded to investigate the case.

- 331 cartridges and cartridge cases of various calibres,
- 12 firecrackers,
- 3 fireworks,
- bulletproof vest,
- a pair of handcuffs,
- full face hood
- metal detector, for which there was no required permit to possess and use.
The involvement of the 2 co-accused in the case came about as 2 of the shotguns found at the premises had licences issued in their names.
In a subsequent search of the house of one of them, 2 folding knives, 52 cartridges of various types and a shotgun were found and seized.

The arrested persons were taken to the competent prosecuting authority, while the preliminary investigation continues to investigate all aspects of the case.
