US President Donald Trump will sign an agreement with Iran only if the “red lines” he has set are met, a White House official said yesterday (Friday), following a meeting between the US president and his staff, after which no announcements were made.

“The meeting in the crisis management room has concluded and lasted about two hours. President Trump will only sign a deal if it is good for America and his red lines are respected. Iran cannot have nuclear weapons,” the official told the French news agency (AFP).

As reported earlier by the New York Times, Donald Trump walked out of the two-hour meeting without making a decision, although he had announced that he intended to make a “final decision.” According to Trump, the agreement extending the ceasefire includes opening the Strait of Hormuz, a commitment by Iran to never develop a nuclear bomb and the delivery of enriched uranium to the US.
