The US armed forces denied early morning Iranian media reports that a US unmanned aerial vehicle was shot down in the Gulf region yesterday (Thursday).
The reports are “false,” he said via X, with all capital letters, the joint command of the US armed forces responsible for the Middle East (CENTCOM, “central command”), assuring that no U.S. aircraft were lost and that all air “resources” are known where they are.
The Tasnim news agency, considered affiliated with the Revolutionary Guards — the ideological army of the Islamic Republic — reported earlier, citing an officer, that a missile shot down a US drone near the Iranian city of Bushehr, where an important port is located.
The German News Agency notes that it was unable to verify the information from either side.
Meanwhile, the FARS news agency reported early today that anti-aircraft defenses opened fire on an “object” in the Gulf.
The two sides have been engaged this week in repeated exchanges of fire, the most serious since a ceasefire was implemented on April 8the 8th, despite reported progress in talks to end the Middle East war since late February.
