3x3: from the streets to the Olympics

The 3x3 is the most widely played team “street sport” in the world and is played with two opposing teams of three players, on one basketball court, in half the court. The winner is the team that is ahead when a quarter of play has been completed or whichever team reaches 21 points first.

.

The 3x3 is constantly rising, as shown by the response of athletes, clubs, the wider sporting public, as well as by the rise of the country and our national teams in the FIBA. Indicative of the momentum that Greece is gaining in 3×3 is Athens’ hosting of the FIBA 3×3 Europe Cup 2027. From 16 to 19 September, Syntagma Square will host Europe’s top national teams in a setting with the Acropolis as a backdrop, turning the historic centre of the capital into a meeting point for basketball fans from all over Europe.
