Today’s (27/5/2026) trial for the Tempe train accident was interrupted and is to continue on Tuesday, June 2, at the Larissa Criminal Court of Appeal.
Accused in the case are a total of 36 people, executives and employees of OSE, ERGOSE, the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, Hellenic Train and the Railway Regulatory Authority.
The 33 of them are accused of the felony of dangerous interference with fixed-track transport with possible malice, with acts dangerous to the safety of transport, from which a common danger to foreign objects and a danger to people could arise and which resulted in: a) the death of a large number of people, b) the serious bodily injury of more people and c) the significant damage to public utility facilities, committed both repeatedly and jointly.
The 35 are also charged with the misdemeanors of manslaughter by negligence by a serial offender, grievous bodily harm by negligence by a serial offender, simple bodily harm by negligence by a serial offender, while three OSE executives are also charged with the misdemeanor of dereliction of duty.
In the next hearing it is to be clarified whether the prosecutor will propose first over the objections of the defendants or whether the lawyers who have declared a representation in support of the prosecution will precede them, as they have also objected to the representation of the Greek state and the defense lawyers of the defendants.
