The last goodbye to Gogo Mastrokosta was said today, Wednesday afternoon, by Traianos Dellas at her funeral, which took place at the Holy Trinity Church in Elliniko.

In his eulogy, delivered just before the clock struck 1pm, the former footballer broke hearts with his tender words for his “angel”.

In particular, clearly emotionally charged, Traianos Della noted that “on my 50th birthday, when I was alone in the hospital room and they took you to intensive care, everything was suddenly resolved in my mind. You were an angel and not me. You came into my life to teach me things. I used to say I had patience and perseverance, but how small I was in front of you. With your patience, in all that you’ve been through, how much perseverance to get through it. Your beauty and radiance only point to an angel.”

“Most of the time I called you ‘baby’ because, from the day I met you, all I wanted was to look after you, to take care of you and protect you. Just like they do to babies. And that need became even greater when you gave birth to our baby, Victoria, so I had two babies to look after. Each one needed their own care but also all the love reserves I had for you.”

“Throughout the years I lived a life as I imagined it, despite the difficulties we encountered along the way, we were together holding each other. Through the easy, the hard and the very hard I never gave up on you. Not for a moment. You are always on my mind and always my priority because you are my baby.”

“My love, my angel, every time we had to deal with a health problem I would say to you, ‘don’t be afraid, I’m going to take a deep breath, we’re going to dive in and come back to the surface.’ And we came up every single time, just this time we were swimming in an ocean. But again I said “don’t be scared, I’m right next to you, you just swim” and you did. But the waves that hit us were stronger each time and in the last one I lost you from my side.”

“Rest, my love, for you are too tired and fly. Fly high, away from all sickness, away from all envy, away from all the pettiness of this world. But, wherever you are, know that the love of all of us will reach you,” Trajan Della added in his eulogy for Gogo Mastrokosta.
