The Israeli army today announced the death of a non-commissioned officer the day before in southern Lebanon, bringing to 23 the number of casualties in its ranks since a new war with the Iranian-affiliated Shiite Hezbollah movement began on March 2day.

Sergeant Nahorai Leicher, 19, who was serving in the 601the Engineer Battalion, “was killed in combat in southern Lebanon,” the Israeli armed forces said, without going into further details.

Air bombing and operations by the Israeli armed forces continue in Lebanon, mainly in the south, despite the fact that a theoretical ceasefire with Hezbollah has been in place since 17April.
