Ukraine and Russia today accused each other of violating a three-day ceasefire negotiated by the United States and announced by US President Donald Trump.

“Since the beginning of the day, the number of attacks carried out by the attacker reached 51,” the general staff of the Ukrainian armed forces said.

The Ukrainian Air Force said 44 unmanned aerial vehicles were launched by Russia as of 18:00 (local and Greek time) yesterday, Friday. This is the lowest number in months.

For its part, the Russian Defence Ministry said that “despite the declaration of a ceasefire, Ukrainian armed groups launched attacks with the help of drones and artillery against the positions of our troops”, without mentioning the exact number.

Victims were reported on both sides.

Drones launched from Russia killed two civilians and wounded three in the Zaporizhzhya and Dnipropetrovsk regions of central Ukraine, according to local authorities.

In the Russian region of Belgorod, bordering Ukraine, three people were wounded in a Ukrainian drone attack, according to regional governor Vyacheslav Gladkov.

After two ceasefire attempts, Ukrainian and then Russian, that were not respected this week, the US president announced a three-day ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia yesterday, Friday night, starting today.

Soon after Donald Trump’s message was made public, Kiev and Moscow confirmed that they had accepted the ceasefire and the prisoner swap.

“Hopefully this will be the beginning of the end of a very long war,” the US president wrote on his platform, Truth Social, explaining that the ceasefire would be accompanied by a “prisoner exchange, 1.000 prisoners from each country.”

An adviser to the Kremlin, Yuri Ushakov, quoted by Russian news agencies, said today, however, that no agreement had been reached to extend this ceasefire.
