The Revolutionary Guards have denied that merchant ships passed through the Strait of Hormuz, the US military’s Central Command for the Middle East (Centcom) earlier asserted.
“No merchant ships or tankers have passed through Hormuz in the last few hours and the claims (…) of US officials are baseless and completely false,” the Guards said in a Telegram post.
According to Centcom, two US-flagged merchant ships “successfully” passed through the Strait earlier today.
The Revolutionary Guards spokesman also warned that ships that violate the regulations announced by Tehran regarding the Strait of Hormuz “will be stopped by force,” Iranian state media reported.
