King Charles is “relieved” that Donald Trump emerged unharmed from the incident at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, Buckingham Palace announced on the eve of the British monarch’s official visit to the US.
“Conversations will be held throughout the day to consider, with our US counterparts and teams on both sides, the extent to which the events of Saturday may or may not affect the planning of the official visit” starting tomorrow afternoon in Washington, according to the statement.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen had a telephone conversation with Trump to express her “solidarity” with him.
“We stressed that political violence has no place in democracies,” the commission president wrote on X.
